Well after some time now, i have finally managed to get out Wair as public beta.
So what is Wair and what is it for ? Wair is a application for file sharing. The idea is to be able to transfer files between platforms and devices without any kind of messy registrations and instruction and registrations and instructions and reg…. yeah you know, and so on.
Basically only thing you need to do is to download the app on devices where you want to receive to or share files from, enter a network-id (which is temporary and exists as long as a device is connected to it) and choose a file to share to your 7 smartphones which you of course have *ironic. So one file gets copied to all those 7 devices. But there is a catch. As you probably by now figured it out, unique network…. exists as long as some one is connected…. and multi-sharing…. yeah rest of that is pretty clear. Well to prevent illegal file sharing, Wair allows you to transfer files up to 5 Mb. Yes you ‘could’ (but should NOT) file-share illegally with small files too, but chances are smaller that this actually will occur. But remember…. you SHOULD NOT! If there occurs any illegal activities, these WILL be REPORTED!
When it comes to Android version, at this stage it is in Beta state and along with that you are able to share from Android only images BUT you are allowed to receive to your Android what ever file format. Well actually ive not tested all formats, but theoretically you could… can… should be able to
But the sad part of this long love-story of my dedication to AIR and Android, i’ve so far managed to develop Android (available on market), PlayBook (waiting for approval) and Desktops (yet to be released). But as far it comes to iOS which also supports AIR, well bad news are that i have no actual device to develop on (simulator isnt working for that purpose). I have one 1:st gen iPhone 3G but it has ARM v6 (?) CPU which seems to be unsupported one for AIR 2.5+. So some iPad and iPhone version of this application is probably not coming in nearest months. Maybe i will find some friendly soul who is willing to donate a old iPhone 3GS so even a iOS Wair will be available. We’ll see
So, thats it for tonight, i’ll get down to update PlayBook version and a Desktop app still needs to be released, argh… lazy me!
If you’re interested of what Wair is built on, if you look around you’ll find AIRTransfer source, there is that absolut basics i created about a year ago. Wair is now more advanced that this basic source, but you will get the idea.
