So, it has been a while since there was something new published for Wair Development.
To catch up… i have actually re-coded Wair again, its like 3:th time now. This leaded to a big re-design as well. The reason why Wair got re-coded was because earlier versions were not so safe for receiving. Because i redesigned code and re-coded big parts of it, i also added new function for Receive / Idle mode.
Idle allows you to stay connected to the network but not to receive any files. Since earlier versions always listened for files to be shared and automatically accepted these, then this time it is only activated when a key is received. Since this key is not guaranteed to be received, Wair will sometimes fail to receive it. Another aspect is that if you already have 2 devices connected to your network and one of them start sharing, mean while you connect a 3:rd device, this device will not start receiving this file automatically (it is for reasons if you join a network which is not created by you) .
How about the Android, well im working on it as much as i have time and it will be available soon (hopefully before the first half of the may is at its end).
What needs to be done is changes which were made in Wair for PlayBook. Since i re-coded much of the code which were not so simple for Android, mostly because of different platform.
To point out the biggest change, Wair 1.5 will NOT work with older versions of Wair. Since Wair still is in beta state, there could be changes which affect communication between different versions.
Ill post a teaser as well…

I have downloaded Wair on PlayBook and would like to use it but need some help. Do you have any step-by-step instructions?
If I understand the principle of Wair, I think I should be able to transfer files between my PlayBook, my laptop, and my work computer. I read several pages of your website and it seems that there is not yet a desktop version. Will there be one soon? Until then I don’t have a way to use Wair.
There is not yet a remote desktop application on the PlayBook and it seems like Wair could offer good functionality if files can be transferred remotely. Many PlayBook owners are looking for a RDP and would see your app as part of the solution. If you get this to a point where I can use it with desktops, and if it is truly secure (my organization would want to be sure of that), I could help you test it while I used it. I was a software quality consultant for many years.

Hi,
is there a reason why network name has to be 6 characters? my home network has 4 characters and no way to rename it.
thanks,
M
Sorry forgot to mention using the app for the BB playbook.
Hi,
this is actually not the network name in your home, instead it is a name you create in Wair. So you can type “123456″ and it works but i recommend you to use some unique name instead.
Eeeeum… Where do the file go after save from Android to Desktop?
You should be prompted for save and choose where you want to save it
Can you assist
My partner and I both have playbooks and would like to send music to one another. We find Wair great for pictures but we are unable to send files like music and documents.
Thank you
Unfortunately Wair have some restrictions as it is today to prevent illegal file sharing. Im not sure if i will increase file size limits and add support for other file-types as Wair is built today but i have in my plans to add support for WiFi transfers where no limits will be present. I can not yet say when i get the time to apply above mentioned fixes since im pretty tight in my schedule :S
